We were thrilled to be selected by the UK Department of International Trade (DIT) to take part in 'Exporting is Great', a national advertising campaign encouraging UK companies to export.
We were picked as one of three inspiring Northern Ireland-based companies who export around the world to feature in range of national print and broadcast advertisements for DIT.
The aim of the campaign is to show examples of companies who are successful exporters to show other UK companies who are considering exporting that it can be done.
Managing Director Darren Mawhinney was asked to share our story: how the company achieved significant success in foreign markets, insights into how UK companies can export into new markets, and travel tips for business people meeting partners and customers in other countries.
Darren shared knowledge gained from exporting over 7 million people to the cloud in over 74 countries, as well as experience built up in other roles he has held, including acting as an advisor to many organizations, helping to shape and influence their exporting strategies throughout the world. He was delighted to be asked by DIT to become an Export Ambassador for this particular campaign.
Darren's tips included arriving a day early to orientate yourself and get a feel for the local culture of the country, staying in central hotels to pack in more meetings, fully utilizing trade missions by extending the trip - where possible - to meet partners and customers in other nearby countries while you are in the region, and using government support that is available.
He also shared his belief that in a digital world, companies need to ignore the Ready, Aim, Fire approach, and instead use Ready, Fire, Aim. This approach focuses on getting an export ready product, launching it digitally then letting sales tell you where your key markets and priorities should be.
Our company has a close working relationship with DIT, having been selected as one of 50 UK leading technology providers to take part UK's first Mega Technology Mission in Malaysia in late 2017.
Photography and filming took place earlier this month and the campaign is set to launch in the coming months, so keep an eye out on your screens for Darren and the team!
