GoCanada Programme: The Review

For those who read our previous blog post, you’ll know that team members from CloudMigrator traveled to Toronto as part of a trade mission with Invest NI between 11th and 14th September at the Strathcona Hotel, Canada.

The Toronto trade mission formed part of Invest NI’s GoCanada programme which provides both new entrants and experienced exporters the opportunity to identify opportunities in the Canadian market.

CloudMigrator was 1 of 6 Northern Ireland companies taking part in the program and our team held successful meetings with various Microsoft partners and IT re-sellers operating in the Canadian market.

The trade mission was very insightful and we found that cloud uptake and adoption in the region was slightly behind other countries such as UK and U.S. This was due to a number of reasons including real fears over data sovereignty and security. 

We also learnt that many partners in Canada are aware of the benefits of cloud but not many were doing major business at present, meaning there are opportunities for us to help drive cloud adoption.

We have already experienced significant success in Canada and are currently working with leading charity YMCA to migrate their entire Canadian operation which includes 41 separate associations.

We enjoyed meeting with prospective partners in Canada, making new relationships and sharing our expert knowledge, gained from successfully migrating over 6.3 million people in 57 countries worldwide. This knowledge helped us to inform partners we met, and will form the basis for educating the Canadian market on the benefits of cloud and helping them to take the leap.

Led by Managing Director Darren Mawhinney, CloudMigrator are currently expanding our workforce and worldwide partnership network to meet global demand.

Our current partners include multinational technology company IBM and international professional services company Capita.
